breaking overnight. as always, it's ron claiborne. >> two men are in custody this morning for allegedly planning a terror plot in the united states. they were in florida. but were in touch with radicals overseas. senior justice correspondent, pierre thomas, join us with the details. >> reporter: good morning. the two ft. lauderdale men are accused of threatening to blow up a bomb in the u.s. sources tell abc news, this was not a sting. and that the younger brother had been in contact with overseas radicals, possibly connected to al qaeda. the indictment accused the men of attempting to provide money, lodging and transportation, and conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction. and sources say, the fbi found evidence that the younger brother, had been monitoring recent fbi sting cases. so, authorities say infiltrating the alleged conspiracy was a non-starter. one law enforcement source described the young man's intent as serious. but the source said, the attack was not imminent. >> okay. pierre thomas, thanks for that report. >>> we have breaking news overnight from overseas. a new pro

analyst ron braunstein. you talk about in this article that i just read, fascinating, two groups. the brown and the gray. what are the differences between them and how are they clashing now that we get closer and closer to the fiscal cliff? >> the brown and the gray is a phrase i've been using for the last few years to describe the two giant generations that will shape american life in the coming decades. the brown is the millennial, the most diverse in american history. over 40% nonwhite. the gray is the aging baby boom which is joining the silent generation in a huge senior cohort that is 80% white. and they have very different political inclinations, preferences and different interests at stake in the fiscal cliff and budget negotiations. on the one hand, taxes verse spending and so does the kind of spending. discretionary spending mostly investments in the future. entitlement spending mostly income security for the older generation. >> so who benefits if we do cross the fiscal cliff? >> i think there is no question that getting the debt and deficit under control is in the int

. our chief political analyst gloria borger was one of the moderators with ron brownstein. what struck you, someone that covered the campaign. you learned some stuff. >> i did. first of all, wolf, this is the first time a lot of people running the campaigns actually met each other face to face. they sat around a big sfar table and had to kind of look at each other and it is so hard on the losing side. you have spent years of your life. there's a picture of the table. you spent years of your life devoted to running a presidential campaign. and if you're the loser, it's really hard. so one of the questions i asked at this panel discussion was about the infamous 47% tape and in which mitt romney said that 47% of the people wouldn't vote for him, that they felt entitled. matt rhodes who ran his campaign answered that question and we only have audio so listen to what he said. >> and i remember speaking to him and, you know, there was a lot of negativity about our campaign as a whole, but he's a person that takes personal responsibility about it. and he would tell me, you know, to me, like,

more comfortable with. there are other changes they might be more comfortable with. host: ron has this suggestion from our twitter page. guest: that is a term we heard. when the cut health care, someone will be bearing the cut.t of that kin that is similar to the concept of those care organizations. they also include quality metrics as part of the contract, where they look at people's outcomes. one way to prevent against the u.s. skimping on care. host: this from sasha -- guest: that is one proposal that gets floated by democrats. medicare part d bargains for drugs. i do not know -- i do not think it would be a cure all, the one proposal that would fix everything. democrats think it would reduce the cost of medicare. host: is there a plan b? guest: we have seen them as the january 1 deadline before and get 30-day extensions. at some point they were working without an extension. medicare told doctors to hold off on submitting your claims for a little bit. that is a situation we have ended up in before. if we're talking months, we're talking about big pay cuts for medicare doctors.
